Training tips & Coaching

First the Club …

Cotswold Allrunners was founded in March 2009 by Simon Barnes, a UKA running coach after helping train a small group of runners who subsequently completed the 2008 Stroud Half Marathon in aid if Higgys Heroes, a Multiple Sclerosis Charity.

Then through being inspired, some of their family and friends came along, too.

Now, we have members of all standards and ages, and take part in road running, cross country, track & field, fell running, triathlons and other multi-sport events.

We are primarily based in Stroud, the heart of the Cotswolds, but also regularly meet in other local Towns and Villages nearby, such as Woodchester, Nailsworth & Minchinhampton.
With this has been the need to grow the support team at Cotswold Allrunners, which now comprises of 1 fully qualified UK Athletics coach, 2 assistant coaches, 4 qualified Leaders in Running Fitness, and several very experienced runners who are always looking after other runners.

The Club Name & Colours

IMG-ClubVestThe name “Cotswold Allrunners” was devised through the fact that we were training and running in the heart of the beautiful Cotswolds and that we were open to all runners, hence “Cotswold Allrunners”. Although a hint of Americanism, Allrunners is now an established Trademark in the UK

As for the colour, this was chosen by Jeannie Hignell and Bea Brandish, with a view to being both stylish and fashionable for Ladies to feel comfortable and of course not too bright for the male members to feel uncomfortable wearing. Its a Purple fronted Vest, with Black rear and a White Stripe down the side.
